Mechanical Reliability Engineer
Location:
Granton, Nova Scotia
The role of Michelin’s technical professionals is to improve reliability of process equipment, ensure implementation of maintenance strategy and practices, and provide technical support to the plant in the areas of maintenance and production. These objectives are achieved in a manner that respects safety, the environment, people, and ultimately Michelin’s customers.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement mechanical designs to improve existing plant equipment, processes and facilities.
- Develop design and installation documents, including drawings, specifications, installation work packages, and maintenance instructions.
- Address reliability projects based on risk analysis factors.
- Coordinate and lead reliability projects.
- Participate in installation, commissioning, and post‑completion analysis as required.
- Assist shops with the implementation of best practices and standards.
- Provide technical assistance to production and maintenance groups to ensure continuity of operations.
- Provide leadership in continuous improvement, efficiency, and root cause analysis.
- Maintain relationships with maintenance and operations department managers and staff to provide optimum services.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 1–3 years in industrial/manufacturing environments with exposure to machine design, installation, and troubleshooting.
- Experience using predictive tools and reliability principles.
- Knowledge in custom industrial machine design, automation, installation, start‑up, qualification, and servo/control systems.
- Strong background in root cause analysis and troubleshooting.
- Both written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop positive relationships with internal plant customers.
- Proven teamwork, leadership, planning, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
