Site Description
The requirement for this role is a valid driver's license and personal vehicle, with the willingness to travel to various hospital sites within the Pictou County, i.e. Aberdeen Hospital and Sutherland Harris Memorial Hospital.

Payrate: $20.50
Key Responsibilities- Perform patient watch duties as the main area of responsibilities, including continuous observation to ensure patients' safety and prevent harm.
- Monitor and report concerns, de-escalate situations calmly, follow clinical direction, document accurately, maintain confidentiality, and provide a respectful, non-invasive presence.
- Perform healthcare security officer duties as needed, including patrol of hospital grounds, regular rounds of premises including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits.
- Monitor surveillance systems: operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access control: monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to emergencies: act quickly in emergency situations such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats; assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide customer service: greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict resolution: de-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report writing: document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately; complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaboration with hospital staff: work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
- Enforce hospital policies: ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed; address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards.
- Valid driver's license and personal vehicle.
- Ability to obtain a security license for the province of Nova Scotia.
- Valid Intermediate First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor).
- English (oral and written) fluency.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
- Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to ensure they meet the requirements of the position.
