Senior Optical Test Transmission Engineer

Join Sub Com to apply for the Senior Optical Test Transmission Engineer role. Sub Com has deployed over 50% of the world’s high‑tech subsea fiber optic cables. This position is critical to the design, manufacturing, deployment, and maintenance of undersea optical communication systems.

As an Optical Transmission System Test Engineer you will define, plan, and execute test programs to support the development and delivery of undersea optical transmission systems. You will develop and execute qualification test plans to validate hardware, software, and firmware product features based on product requirements. You will manage laboratory equipment, facilitate testing and troubleshooting, and document test results. You will collaborate with R&D, Test & Commissioning, Manufacturing, Project Management, Sales, NOC, and Field Support organizations.

• Apply knowledge of optical transmission testing including OTN OTU1‑4, SDH STM1‑64, PDH E1‑E5, Ethernet 100
  
  BASE‑100
  
  Gbps, optical gain and loss, OSNR, BER, PMD, PDL, dispersion, nonlinear processes eye diagrams, and related measurements.
• Generate and execute test plans in partnership with systems, software, and hardware engineers.
• Plan and execute compliance tests with data and telecom standards.
• Plan and execute DWDM transmission tests.
• Configure and maintain laboratory test systems.
• Plan and execute customer demonstrations.
• Demonstrate strong laboratory, analytic, and communication skills; work independently or lead a team.
• Proficient in Linux; experience with test automation software is preferred.

• MS in Electrical Engineering, Optics, or Physics, or BS with relevant fiber optics and/or coherent optical communication experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• 12+ years of relevant industry experience.
