Responsible for designing and modelling distribution and transmission electric lines for Aerial Spacer cables as well as conventional cables using Line design software tools. Assist customers with guidance on the Aerial Cable system, the components, as well as the correct installation techniques of overhead circuits. The Design Engineer will also support the sales team with business development efforts. Assist Research & Development team with design improvements as well as new product design and testing.
Travel is required 10% of the time for training, installations, and customer visits.##
** ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
*** Applying industry codes and standards to create designs for poles, wires and equipment for overhead electric distribution and transmission systems. Includes NESC , GO95, CSA codes
* Using software design tools such as PLS-CADD, SAG
10 and Solidworks to design overhead systems.
* Discuss utility electric systems with utility engineers, consultants and salespeople and instruct them on the use of Hendrix products.
* Manage multiple projects using software tools including Salesforce and Smartsheet.
* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. This includes writing reports, as well as presentations for training customers.
* Limited travel domestically to customer sites for complaint resolution, sales presentations or product training.
* Able to assist with product design and development by assembling parts and performing mechanical and electrical tests.
* Learn and use the Axiom MRP software used to operate the business.
* Work with sales and marketing to assist with catalog updates and product data sheets.##
** EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS
*** This position requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural, or Civil Engineering or a related field.
* Two years of experience with utility distribution and transmission systems including overhead distribution line design.
* Knowledge of standards including the National Electric Safety Code, General Order 96, Canadian Standards for overhead systems.
* Skill in using CAD drafting software is preferred.##
** WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
** Individual is expected to work in the office to allow for collaboration with engineering team members.
* Requires extended hours working on the computer.
* Occasionally, person may need to work in factory environment for testing and evaluation of products.##
· May be required to work outdoors to assist with the installation of our products at customer site.
