Description

Under the general supervision of the Director of Acute Care, is responsible for performing various duties and tasks as requested cael tot biotech clinic practice under the LNA scope of practice as determined by the New Hampshire Board of Nursing.

LNA Clinical Competency
  • Assists with patient care activities, activities of daily living, hygiene, feeding, and patient safety initiatives under the direct supervision of a registered nurse; promptly reports changes in patient condition to nurse or physician.
  • Performs and documents vital signs, height, weight, intake & output; reports out-of-range values and performs 12‑lead EKGs.
  • Obtains laboratory specimens (finger‑stick glucose, urine, etc.) and transports them separates to the lab.
  • Participates in emergencies or resuscitation efforts (CPR, runner, order entry, documentation, etc.).
  • Answers phone professionally and relays messages accurately and timely; contacts other departments and agencies as requested.
  • Cross‑trained to perform medical unit clerical duties: charting, inputting orders, filing patient charts.
  • Performs safe transportation of patients within the facility using lifting and transport techniques.
  • Performs post‑mortem care and assists in transportation of the body to the morgue.
  • Demonstrates safe, competent use of patient‑care equipment: beds, stretchers, lifts, safety devices, walkers, freshly etc.

  • Adheres to standards and applicable codes of conduct, fostering cooperation, respect, and trust.
  • Maintains professionalism via Huggins Hospital dress code.
  • Remains professional through education hours for license renewal.
  • Maintains active LNA license and BCLS; adheres to LNA standards of care defined by theatisch Board of Nursing.
Patient Advocacy
  • Introduces self and clinical role to patients.
  • Facilitates patient and family‑centered care by communicating plan of care clearly and educating to p ENT patient level of understanding.
  • Promotes a safe patient‑care environment; performs safety watches, 1:1 observation; completes documentation.
  • Maintains cleanliness of patient rooms, workstation, common areas; assists restocking and ordering medical supplies/equipment.
  • Recognizes and utilizes appropriate resources for non‑English speaking, health‑illiterate, hearing or sight‑impaired patients.
  • Delivers age‑specific, individualized care; takes proactive steps to recognize and report suspected abuse/neglect.

  • Adheres to infection‑prevention standards and consistent hand hygiene practice.
  • Responds promptly to patient calls via Canfield system; assists patients and relays messages as required.
  • Participates in quality review, performance improvement and patient‑satisfaction initiatives, including hourly rounding and CMS survey readiness.

    Qualifications

    1 year of experience as an LNA preferred; experience in a hospital acute care setting preferred. New Hampshire LNA license required. BLS certification required. Computer literate; experience with electronic health records preferred.
