Assistant Director of Campus Recreation, Facilities role at University of New Hampshire
The Assistant Director of Facilities with the Campus Recreation Department is responsible for all aspects of eleven facilities and supports the programs that take place in those facilities.
Duties / Responsibilities Providing leadership and oversight for specific facilities (40%)- Hamel Student Recreation Center (HRC) and multiple outdoor fields.
- Support colleagues who oversee Mendums Pond, Outdoor Pool, Swasey Indoor Pool, Memorial Union Building, Tennis Courts, and Boathouse at Jacksons Landing. Facilitate regular meetings with these colleagues.
- Assist staff with the review, updating, and enforcement of facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure facility schedules are maintained in a timely manner.
- Coordinate facility scheduling process for HRC and outdoor fields, from receiving requests, accommodating requests, deciding when to confirm requests, and making changes to reservations as requested. Track agreement process including renter’s insurance and signatures. Create, track and maintain accurate invoices to each group in a timely manner.
- Ensure cooperative relationships between various user groups, departments and agencies. Facilitate regular meetings with stakeholders.
- Coordinate short and long term maintenance plan with UNH Facilities Department.
- Serve as key manager for the department.
- Recruit, recommend, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate professional staff.
- Recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate special event supervisors.
- Ensure risk management training and protocols are in place for each position based on their responsibilities.
- Serve as liaison with Housekeeping to ensure daily cleaning and maintenance of the Hamel Recreation Center.
- Serve as liaison with Facilities Operations team for ongoing maintenance and to address issues as they emerge.
- Serve as department lead for capital projects for all facilities.
- Serve as department representative with contractors for responsibilities including fitness equipment maintenance and vehicle maintenance.
- Maximize use of resources including funding, personnel, facilities, and time.
- Serve on Campus Recreation and university committees.
- Provide leadership and direction in the development of short and long range plans.
- Gather, interpret, and prepare data for studies, reports, and recommendations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to remain on the forefront of the field.
- Other duties as assigned as necessitated by the Division of Student Life.
- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in collegiate recreation programming and facilities or commensurate experience.
- Must have a valid driver's license and/or qualify to drive university vehicles.
- Master’s degree and 3-5 years of experience in collegiate recreation programming and facilities.
- Experience hiring, training, and supervising hourly and professional staff.
- Collaboration skills with various student, faculty, staff, alumni, and external groups.
- Demonstrated effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Certified Pool Operator.
- Experience developing, implementing and evaluating risk management practices.
- Financial management experience.

CompensationPay Range
$47,920.00 - $85,410.00
