AboutThe Role
As a Machinist you will support the development and determination of machining operations, select tooling, make setups, and develop processes. We are looking for all levels of Machinists—interviews will be conducted, and your skill level and the plant’s needs will determine your specific responsibilities. Must be local to the Newington, NH area. You will report to the Machine Shop Supervisor and be located at Newington, NH.
This position is 100% onsite.
- Operate manufacturing department metal removing and forming machines.
- Select and use necessary measuring tools.
- Select and use hand tools.
- Work from drawings, sketches, written instructions, or verbal instructions (not to conflict with PP‑09‑01).
- Perform technical and close‑tolerance work to engineering drawings and written instructions.
- Operate any of the machine tool types that are qualified for on the department training matrix with minimal training.
- Determine the need for and fabricate jigs and tooling.
- Practice proper housekeeping, observing all safety and criticality procedures.
- Responsible for quality of work during the machining process to ensure required tolerances have been met.
- Practice 5S principles and observe all safety policies.
- Load or coordinate the loading of machining centers.
- Run multiple machines at the same time based on proximity, qualifications, and training.
- May modify and troubleshoot machining programs, depending on machine qualification and training.
- Set‑up machine tools and component or casting to ensure proper machining according to specifications; set‑up time varies with part size and complexity.
- Work with minimal or no guidance.
- High school graduate or recognized equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Westinghouse – Newington Machinist B or recognized equivalent.
- Knowledge of CNC "G" codes.
- Knowledge of tooling, fixtures, and machine set‑up to achieve quality machined components.
- Familiar with and practice 5S principles.
- Knowledge of programming.
The hourly pay range for this position, depending on experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $30 to $40 per hour.
