A Day in the Life as a Food Pantry Assistant

As a Food Pantry Assistant, you will support a busy food pantry by organizing, stocking, and distributing food. You will also assist with food donations from various sources.

Your Day Will Involve
  • Managing the food pantry, including preparing and distributing food to community members.
  • Maintaining organization of the food pantry, stocking shelves, and unloading and putting away food from USDA and other donations. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Assisting with general office functions related to the food pantry, such as paperwork, filing, cleaning, and other duties as needed.
Requirements Qualifications to Be a Food Pantry Assistant
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalency credential.
  • Experience:

    Experience working or volunteering in a food pantry is preferred but not required.
  • Skills:

    Good communication and customer service skills. General office skills.
  • License/Certification:
    Successful completion of criminal record check.
  • Characteristics:
    Present a professional and positive image as a representative of CAPBM. A strong desire to assist others in helping themselves.

Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license are required, as some travel within the community may be necessary.
