The Li Lab in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Bioengineering at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our interdisciplinary team working at the interface of biomaterials, tissue engineering, and mechanobiology. Our research integrates polymer chemistry, microfabrication, and cell biology to engineer advanced hydrogel‑based microenvironments for studying angiogenesis, vascular disease modeling, and tissue repair.
The postdoctoral researcher will lead projects focused on developing and characterizing biofunctional and microstructured hydrogels that mimic the biochemical and biophysical cues regulating vascular morphogenesis and disease progression. The candidate will design and perform experiments to investigate cell–matrix interactions, endothelial and fibroblast co‑culture systems, and microvascular network formation under controlled mechanical and biochemical environments. The position offers opportunities to collaborate across disciplines in biomaterials design, microfluidic tissue models, and vascular mechanobiology.
Duties/Responsibilities- Design, synthesize, and characterize polymeric or hybrid biomaterials for vascular tissue models.
- Conduct cell culture studies (endothelial cells, fibroblasts, pericytes, etc.) to evaluate angiogenic behavior.
- Develop and analyze 3D vascularized tissue models and disease‑on‑chip systems.
- Employ imaging, mechanical testing, and molecular assays to assess vascular function and matrix remodeling.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate researchers and contribute to proposal writing and publications.
- Ph.D. in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field.
- Strong background in hydrogel biomaterials, cell culture, and microscopy.
- Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
- Resume/CV
- Cover Letter
- Contact Information for 3 Professional References
Applications missing any of the required items may not move forward for consideration. Additional uploaded documents not requested will not be reviewed.
Compensation Pay Range: $60,000 per year.
