About the Role:The Crane Truck Operator plays a critical role in the safe and efficient operation of crane-equipped trucks used in various construction, industrial, and logistical projects across New England. This position requires the operator to skillfully maneuver the crane to lift, move, and place heavy materials with precision, ensuring project timelines and safety standards are met. The operator must conduct thorough pre-operation inspections and maintain the crane truck in optimal working condition to prevent mechanical failures and accidents.
Collaboration with site supervisors, riggers, and other team members is essential to coordinate lifts and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, the Crane Truck Operator contributes significantly to the successful completion of projects by combining technical expertise, safety awareness, and effective communication on site.
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating crane trucks.
- Proven experience operating crane trucks or similar heavy equipment in a construction or industrial environment.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards related to crane operation and heavy equipment handling.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and site plans.
- Physical ability to perform manual labor, including climbing, lifting, and working in various weather conditions.
- Certification from a recognized crane operator training program such as NCCER.
- Experience with multiple types of cranes and crane trucks, including hydraulic and lattice boom cranes.
- Familiarity with GPS and other modern crane operation technologies.
- Basic mechanical skills for troubleshooting and minor repairs.
- Strong communication skills and experience working in team-oriented environments.
- Operate crane trucks to lift, move, and position heavy materials according to project specifications and safety guidelines.
- Perform daily inspections and routine maintenance checks on crane trucks to ensure operational safety and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with site supervisors, riggers, and other personnel to plan lifts and ensure safe and efficient material handling.
- Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, including load limits, signaling, and emergency procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, inspections, and maintenance activities as required by company policy and regulatory agencies.
The Crane Truck Operator utilizes technical skills daily to operate complex crane machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring precise placement of heavy loads. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and load management is essential to prevent accidents and maintain compliance with industry standards. Effective communication skills are used to coordinate with team members and site supervisors, facilitating smooth operations and problem-solving on site.
Mechanical aptitude allows the operator to perform routine maintenance and identify potential equipment issues before they elevate. Additionally, the ability to interpret technical documents such as load charts and site plans ensures that all lifts are executed according to project requirements and safety protocols. Pay scale is negotiable with experience.
