Our client, located in the New Haven Shoreline area is a family-owned company with over 40 years of experience specializing in high-end luxury home building along the Connecticut Shoreline. Their diverse portfolio includes residential and commercial projects such as apartments, chain restaurants, retail, office, and medical buildings.
In addition to construction services, our client operates a fencing division that offers custom fence design and installation. This includes privacy fences, decorative fences, pet enclosures, pool fencing, and elegant entrance gates—crafted with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Key Responsibilities- Manage project accounting for multiple ongoing construction jobs
- Prepare and analyze job cost reports, work-in-progress (WIP) schedules, and budget-to-actual variance reports
- Maintain accurate and timely billing to clients (AIA or other formats)
- Process subcontractor and vendor invoices, including lien waivers and compliance documents
- Track committed costs, change orders, and retainage
- Assist in payroll tracking as it pertains to job cost allocations
- Support monthly close processes and reconciliations
- Collaborate with project managers to review budgets, forecasts, and profitability
- Maintain organized records and ensure compliance with internal controls and audit standards
- Support CPA or external auditors with year-end documentation
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry
- Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Quick Books, Foundation, or Procore Financials)
- Knowledge of GAAP and WIP accounting practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience working in a general contracting or subcontractor environment
- Knowledge of AIA billing formats and lien waiver processes
- Familiarity with union payroll or certified payroll (if applicable)
