Accounts Payable Specialist

New Haven Area, CT (1 day remote)

A well-established company in the New Haven area is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Specialist to join their team. This opportunity is open due to a retirement, offering the chance to step into a stable role with a company known for their product, good culture, and stability.

Responsibilities:

+ Process vendor invoices accurately and match to purchase orders

+ Prepare vendor payments, checks, ACH, and wires

+ Reconcile AP transactions, statements, and account balances

+ Code expenses to appropriate accounts and cost centers

+ Verify W-9s and confirm vendor banking information for electronic payments

+ Resolve invoice, payment, and vendor discrepancies

+ Maintain accurate ledgers and organized AP files

Qualifications:

+ 10+ years of Accounts Payable experience preferred

+ General accounting knowledge

+ Comfortable working in a small office setting

+ Positive attitude and desire to be part of a strong, collaborative culture

Requirements

- Hands-on experience in accounts payable or a closely related accounting support position.

- Working knowledge of invoice processing, invoice coding, and payment preparation procedures.

- Effective written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams.
