Controller, Construction

Our client is an ascending commercial construction management firm located in New Haven, CT. The Construction Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing the financial operations of our construction projects, ensuring accurate accounting, budget management, and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in construction accounting, excellent analytical abilities, and effective communication skills.

• Oversee and manage all financial aspects of construction projects, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Ensure accurate monthly close in accordance with industry standards.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, tracking expenses and comparing them to the budgeted costs.
• Monitor and analyze project costs, variances, and trends, providing timely and accurate financial reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
• Create cash‑flow projections.
• Provide monthly management reports and analysis.
• Responsible for HR activities including payroll, benefits, and employee onboarding.

• BS degree in accounting or finance with at least 8 years of construction accounting experience.
• Commercial construction/general contractor industry experience is a must.
• Experience with Sage 100/300 (Timber scan) is required.
• AIA billing experience is required.
• Strong understanding of project delivery methods: GM, GC, Design‑Build, CM as Agent, GMP, Lump Sum, Cost Plus.
