OverviewYale Young Global Scholars (YYGS) is the premier summer academic enrichment and leadership development program of its kind for talented high school students from around the world. Administered by the Office of International Affairs, YYGS enrolls roughly 2,000 students from more than 150 countries and all 50+ U.S. states and territories. The nine (9) sessions take place on Yale’s campus in STEM, social science, and cross‑disciplinary fields.
Participants benefit from Yale lectures, small‑group discussions led by over 150 dedicated undergraduate, graduate, and professional‑school students, and collaborative projects. The Assistant Director of Administration reports to the YYGS Director and oversees core administrative functions including hiring, financial‑aid review, expense processing, faculty honorarium arrangements, Fly Wire refunds, large supply orders, and monthly reconciliations. The role manages a team of full‑time and temporary staff, hires approximately 190 temporary staff throughout the year, analyzes, tracks, forecasts, and reconciles a $10 million budget, supervises program operations, coordinates online admissions and registration, and assists with on‑site supervision during the summer program sessions.
Responsibilities
Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, education or similar field. Familiarity with YYGS or similar programs and experience working with high‑school students. Familiarity with Yale hiring and payment procedures for temporary employees and students. Technical understanding of online admissions systems.
RequiredEducation and Experience
Minimum requirement of a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and three years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
