Design Engineer

Overview

Quanex is looking for a Design Engineer to join our team located in New Haven, CT
. The Bilco Brand manufactures a complete line of products that provide access for commercial building applications. Products are available in a number of standard sizes and are custom engineered to meet unique access requirements.

• Responsibility for product development within a Lean environment, engineering documentation for all product lines, and product review and testing.
• Work in collaborative environment.
• Be a part of a growth oriented business.

• Initiating product design and innovation.
• Ensure that products comply with all applicable codes and regulations.
• Determining feasibility of manufacture and modifications necessary to alter construction of a specific product to accommodate customer requirements.
• Supporting engineering staff in testing of new product prototypes, or new design applications to customer specifications.
• Interacting with customers and meeting their needs.

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering
• 5+ years of product development experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• The ability to work closely with other engineers and others, including external customers, in a team environment.
• Experience with root cause problem solving and driving improvements to designs and processes.
• Experience with Solidworks and AutoCAD.

The targeted salary range for this position is $78,000-$90,000 with bonus potential.
