Job Summary
The Field Service Technician (FST) will be responsible for assembling, installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading automation and robotics equipment. This technician is a key member of the team who will diagnose and resolve electrical and mechanical issues, perform repairs and rebuilds, and develop maintenance plans both as part of the manufacturing assembly department as well as in the field at customer job sites.
The FST will collaborate with stakeholders to optimize system performance, provide technical support and training, and analyze systems for improvements and/or new product offerings.
$20.00/hr - $30.00/hr
Travel60% travel, primarily within the Northeast, with some travel across the U.S. and occasional trips to Canada.
Responsibilities- Travel to customer sites to perform preventive maintenance, installations, repairs, and upgrades of existing and new automation equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve electrical issues, including power distributions, wiring, and controls systems, to ensure uninterrupted operation of automation equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical issues, including misalignment, parts collision, or improper operability to ensure uninterrupted functionality of automation equipment.
- Build, repair and rebuild products and systems in a controlled shop environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.
- Develop and execute maintenance plans to minimize downtime and maximize the longevity of machines and systems.
- Perform calibration procedures, testing, and adjustments to ensure the accuracy and precision of equipment and associated components.
- Work closely with engineers, technicians, managers, customers and other stakeholders to address technical challenges, optimize equipment performance, and implement improvements.
- Provide technical training and support to customers and end-users on the operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment.
- Analyze and evaluate the performance of equipment, identify opportunities for optimization, efficiency improvements, and cost savings.
- Maintain accurate records of field service activities, including service reports, work orders, FAT/SAT punch lists, and parts inventory. Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress to internal teams and customers.
- A technical degree or equivalent experience (Preferred)
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications
- Proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostics on automated equipment
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely
- Ability to work independently on the shop floor and at customer job sites
- Self-motivated, customer service-oriented team player
