We are currently recruiting for multiple Police Sergeant positions to work at various campuses within CT State Community College. Candidates must be able to prove current POSTC Certification and must have been certified for over two years to be considered.

Minimum QualificationsGeneral
Experience:
Three (3) years of experience as a Police Officer in an organized police department or within state service.
Substitutions Allowed: A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for one (1) year of the General Experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with two or more years of police leadership experience.
Special Requirements- Candidates are subject to selection standards pursuant to CT statutes and POSTC regulations.
- Incumbents must possess and maintain law enforcement certification in CT and a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license, be eligible to bear arms, and may be required to obtain EMT certification.
- Incumbents may be required to travel.
- Supervise and assist staff in police functions, training, evaluation, and discipline in accordance with department standards.
- Assign duties, review results, and ensure policy conformance.
- Coordinate information exchange among shifts or with other law enforcement agencies.
- Perform full range of police, security, and related administrative duties; respond to complaints of police error or negligence.
- Conduct investigations and emergency responses; may train staff and serve as dispatcher.
Skills and Abilities
- Considerable knowledge of police and security practices; knowledge of state and federal laws, criminal law, court procedures, traffic control, and training practices.
- Interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to analyze emergencies, utilize computer software, and supervise staff.
- General good health; ability to perform duties with required strength, stamina, and acuity.
- May be required to pass a physical exam and may be exposed to dangerous situations and long periods in a vehicle.
