Recent funding news:
Bexorg Raises $42.5M to Transform CNS Drug Development with World’s First Integrated AI and Whole-Human Brain Platform
Bexorg develops systems that plan and execute human brain perfusion experiments and manage a growing biobank (10,000+ samples and growing rapidly) with zero tolerance for data failures.
Since Bexorg was founded by Dr. Zvonimir Vrselja and Dr. Nenad Sestan at Yale University in 2021, the company has rapidly advanced its whole‑human brain drug discovery platform.
The company’s foundational research, which demonstrated that cellular and metabolic activity could be restored to postmortem brains hours after death, was published in Nature (Nature 568, 336–343 (2019)). In 2024, Bexorg partnered with the University of Oxford and the UK Medical Research Council as part of a collaborative effort to advance translational gene therapy development for neurological diseases. In mid‑2025, the company announced a research collaboration with pharmaceutical company Biohaven Ltd.
to advance two of Biohaven’s preclinical development programs. In the last 18 months, Bexorg has expanded its proprietary dataset to include hundreds of whole‑brain experiments spanning Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and other neurodegenerative conditions, establishing one of the world’s largest repositories of human CNS data.
Building on continuous growth of its proprietary human brain dataset, Bexorg is now training foundation models on petabyte‑scale human brain molecular data, creating the first AI system grounded in experimentally measured human neurobiology.
Role SummaryBexorg is seeking a Software Engineer to drive the development of embedded control systems that power our next‑generation brain perfusion platform. In this role, you will design and implement firmware and automation software that interfaces directly with sensors, pumps, and high‑speed data acquisition systems to enable precise, real‑time physiological experimentation. You’ll collaborate closely with hardware, mechanical, and biochemical engineers to build robust, scalable systems that integrate data, analytics, and automation.
Key Responsibilities- Embedded Systems Development
- Develop, test, and maintain firmware for embedded controllers (e.g., Arduino
- Implement PID control loops, sensor data acquisition, and real‑time I/O
- management.
- Interface with high‑speed DAQ modules (e.g., USB-1608FS-Plus) for
- synchronized, buffered data logging.
- Design software architectures for managing perfusion cycles, valve control, and
- Develop APIs and automation routines for experiment scheduling, calibration,
- and error handling.
- Integrate control systems with GUI and system‑level automation layers.
- Implement time‑series data collection and analysis pipelines for monitoring
- physiological metrics.
- Work with Python‑based analytics (e.g., Num Py, pandas, Plotly, scikit‑learn) to
- visualize and interpret perfusion parameters such as _weight and
- .
- Support development of predictive models to optimize perfusion performance.
- Collaborate with hardware, mechanical, and biochemical engineering teams to
- ensure seamless system operation.
- Write test protocols, validation scripts, and documentation for regulatory and
- performance verification.
- Maintain version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and issue tracking.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering,
- Computer Science, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in embedded systems, control software, or scientific
- instrumentation.
- Proficiency in Python and C/C++.
- Experience with microcontrollers, serial communication (UART/RS‑232/USB), and
- DAQ systems.
- Familiarity with PID…
