Senior Director of Technology Deployment, QuantumCT
Base pay range: $/yr – $/yr. (Actual pay based on experience.)
Quantum
CT is seeking a seasoned, strategic, and highly collaborative Senior Director of Technology Deployment to play a pivotal role in shaping Connecticut’s—and the nation’s—quantum future by advancing use‑inspired research and accelerating its translation into deployable, scalable quantum technologies for industry and society. This role is central to Quantum
CT’s NSF Engines mission: ensuring that quantum computing and enabling technologies (software, hardware, and processes) are validated, de‑risked, and prepared for real‑world adoption.
- Lead Quantum
CT’s technology deployment and translation function by coordinating ecosystem‑wide partnerships, processes, and shared resources that enable the effective commercialization of technologies developed by member organizations. - Manage and operate Quantum
CT’s quantum testbed as a shared resource that supports technology validation, early‑stage demonstration, industry co‑development, and workforce‑relevant learning. Responsibilities include governance, access models, readiness assessment, utilization metrics, and continuous improvement. - Lead and scale Quantum
CT’s incubator, supporting startups and translational project teams as they transition technologies from laboratory proof‑of‑concept to early market engagement through technical de‑risking, customer discovery, and partnership development. - Evaluate quantum computing and enabling technology innovations for technical readiness, scalability, commercial potential, and deployment risk, and develop stage‑appropriate translation and deployment strategies.
- Build strong, trust‑based relationships with faculty, researchers, and institutional leaders to promote shared understanding of research‑to‑deployment pathways and best practices.
- Provide education and guidance to researchers, startup teams, and industry partners on technology deployment, IP strategy, and commercialization best practices.
- Conceive of and lead ecosystem‑wide collaborative efforts that coordinate universities, startups, industry partners, and public‑sector stakeholders in the pursuit of significant state and federal funding opportunities, designing these initiatives to align with national innovation program frameworks, including NSF Engines, as appropriate.
- Track, analyze, and communicate deployment, testbed utilization, incubator outcomes, and translational impact to Quantum
CT leadership, the Board, and NSF stakeholders. - Represent Quantum
CT in regional and national partnerships, consortia, and NSF Engines activities.
- Polished executive presence, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to speak on behalf of a high‑profile, publicly funded initiative.
- Able to explain the promise of quantum and quantum‑adjacent technologies in accessible terms and articulate the unique advantages of Connecticut’s ecosystem, including its dense concentration of early adopters, world‑class research institutions, testbed investments, strong state support, and expanding startup infrastructure.
- Ability to understand corporate innovation cycles, risk, ROI, and pilot development—even without deep technical expertise.
- Ability to lead collaboration convenings, workshops, challenge problems, and cross‑sector discussions.
- Knowledge of and experience with the State/Federal government procurement process, including how contracts are awarded and what types of procurement methods are used.
- Ability to operate in a fast‑moving, ambiguous environment.
- Proactive, creative problem‑solver who can balance big‑picture strategy with hands‑on execution and who sees the value of connecting corporate innovation agendas with academic research excellence, startup dynamism, and regional workforce development.
Education and/or Experience
- Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in corporate partnerships, business development, innovation strategy, or a related field, ideally in sectors with emerging technology adoption.
