The Office of the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut is seeking applications for an Assistant United States Attorney to serve in the Defensive Unit of the office's Civil Division.
LocationThis position is located in New Haven, Hartford, or Bridgeport, Connecticut.
ResponsibilitiesThe Defensive Unit defends claims filed against the United States, including tort, medical malpractice, employment discrimination, immigration, and foreclosures. The Defensive Unit also defends claims brought against individual federal employees (Bivens claims). Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
Security RequirementsInitial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. In addition, continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
Residency RequirementsAssistant United States Attorneys generally must reside in the district to which they are appointed or within 25 miles thereof. See 28 U.S.C. 545 for district‑specific information.
Selectively ServiceFor male applicants born after December 31, 1959, you must certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System, or are exempt from having to do so under the Selective Service Law. See (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below)..
Requirements- You must be a United States Citizen or National.
