American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a Level I Trauma academic medical center requiring 2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active CT or compact RN license required
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty (1.5 years considered for Level I Trauma or travel experience)
- Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
- Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care/management
- Experience with respiratory/thoracic care and ventilated patients
- Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias
- Experience managing continuous IV sedation and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
- Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
- One professional reference required
- Step Down unit with primary SDU assignments and occasional ICU coverage
- Average patient ratio of 1:3 across days, nights, and weekends
- Day shift schedule working 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Floating required to PCU, other ICUs, and SRC campus as needed
- No on-call requirements
- Uses Epic EMR
- Provide direct patient care in a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting
- Participate in cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
- Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
- Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
