American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma experience and a CT or compact RN license.
Details- Level I Trauma Center emergency department setting with general adult/pediatric patient population
- Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
- Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both days and nights
- Will cross train and float to other campuses and ED observation as needed within scope
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Epic EMR used, experience preferred
- Assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses and ED observation
- Travelers do not staff trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Active CT or compact RN license required
- BLS, ACLS, TNCC certifications required
- NIHSS, PALS, ENPC, and CPI certifications preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, 1.5 years considered from a Level I trauma or similar large hospital
- Level I Trauma Center experience required
- Level II Trauma experience preferred
- Teaching hospital and community hospital experience preferred
- Experience with patient ratios of 1:5-6 required
- Skills required include IV therapy, central line care, blood product administration, EKG interpretation, dysrhythmia management, and psychiatric patient care
- Experience managing ventilated patients, BiPAP/CPAP, and chest tube management preferred
- Familiarity with splint application and ortho trauma care required
- One professional reference required
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required with medical or religious exemption only
- Provide emergency nursing care in a high-acuity, Level I Trauma Center setting
- Work within a large academic medical center environment with over 1,000 staffed beds
- Participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require manager approval
- Returning staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
- Local candidates not accepted; candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility
- First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
- Pending license candidates accepted, with CT license processing time of 15-21 business days
- Open to accommodating block scheduling requests
- Weekend call-out policy requires make-up shifts to be rescheduled within the following 6-week period
