American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for an Emergency Department position requiring Level I Trauma experience and a CT or compact RN license.
Details- Level I Trauma Center Emergency Department, combined adult/pediatric population
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- Average patient ratio of 1:6 for both day and night shifts
- Every other weekend required
- Will cross train and float to other campuses and ED observation unit within scope
- No on-call requirements
- Open to block scheduling
- Assignment length 13 weeks with possibility of extension up to 26 weeks
- Uses Epic charting system
- Active CT or compact RN license required (pending license accepted)
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC required; CPI, ENPC, NIHSS, and PALS preferred
- Minimum 2 years of ED experience required; 1.5 years considered for candidates from a Level I Trauma or similar facility
- Level I Trauma Center experience required;
Level II Trauma experience preferred - Epic charting experience preferred
- Experience with psychiatric patients, IV therapy, central line management, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management and ABG interpretation
- Experience with emergency medications, IV vasopressors, and continuous IV sedation
- Experience with neurological conditions including CVA, ICP monitoring, and traumatic brain injury
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and 12-lead EKG interpretation
- Experience with trauma and shock patients including gunshot wounds and traumatic amputations
- Experience managing violent behavior and psychiatric holds
- Orthopedic splinting and trauma management experience preferred
- One professional reference required for consideration
- Work in a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting with over 1,500 staffed beds
- Travelers are assigned to one campus with possibility of rotating to other campuses and ED observation unit
- Travelers will not be assigned to trauma/rescue rooms, triage, or locked behavioral health units
- Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
- COVID vaccine and booster required, with exemptions only for religious or medical reasons
- RTO requests greater than 7 days require facility approval
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Local candidates not accepted unless within specific exempt specialties
- Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be considered
- Previous staff must have a 2-year separation from permanent employment before returning as a traveler
