American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position at a Level I Trauma Center requiring 2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center academic medical facility with 1,567 staffed beds
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• Average patient ratios of 1:5 to 1:6
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Uses Epic charting system

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS
• Preferred certification: ACLS
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry monitoring
• Experience with Rapid Response/Code teams
• Skilled in isolation precautions/PPE, respiratory care, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen tank use
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management experience required
• 1 reference required for consideration
• Trauma Center experience at a large facility required

• Provide telemetry-based nursing care including cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management
• Participate in Rapid Response/Code team activities as needed
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as required by the facility
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility
• Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
