American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Tele position requiring ventilator and tracheostomy care experience at a Level I Trauma Center.

• Work in the MS/Tele unit of a Level I Trauma Center, Academic Medical Center
• Patient population includes overflow ventilator patients requiring trach care and vent weaning
• Average patient ratio of 1:5-6 across days, nights, and weekends
• May take up to 5 non-vent patients in addition to pulmonary vented and vent weaning patients
• Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts from 7:00 to 19:00
• Required to work every other weekend
• May float frequently between sister units NP1 and EP 4-6 within scope
• Uses Epic charting system
• No on-call requirements

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of experience required (1.5 years accepted if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Required skills:
  
  care of ventilated patients, non-invasive airway management, tracheostomy care/management
• Cardiac monitoring experience including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with rapid response/code teams
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care/management experience
• 1 professional reference required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only

• Provide care for pulmonary ventilated patients, including vent weaning and tracheostomy management
• Facility is a large Level I Trauma Center with 1,567 staffed beds
• Royal blue scrubs required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates within 75 miles of the hospital are considered local
• Returning staff must have been gone at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
• Travelers may be required to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities
