American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring CT or compact RN license and 2 years of experience at a Level I Trauma Center academic medical center.

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a short term acute care, Level I Trauma Center academic medical facility with over 1,500 staffed beds
• Average patient ratio of 1:6
• Night shift schedule, three 12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must work Christmas holiday (12/23-12/25)

• Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date
• Current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered with Level I Trauma or travel experience)
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• 1 professional reference required
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skills in IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and phlebotomy
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube, tracheostomy, and oxygen administration management
• Cardiac monitoring skills including dysrhythmia interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Wound care and isolation precaution/PPE knowledge
• Experience with IV insulin protocols and renal/hemodialysis management

• Provide nursing care to med/surg telemetry patients including post-angiogram, post-MI, and renal failure cases
• Royal blue scrub color required
• RTO requests greater than 7 days require additional approval
• Candidates must live outside a 75-mile radius of the facility to be eligible, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
• Travelers must be willing to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
