American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a 10-week winter contract at a Level I Trauma Center, requiring CT/compact RN licensure and orthopedic experience.

• Med/Surg Tele unit in a short-term acute care, Level I Trauma Center
• Orthopedic patient population including total joint replacement cases
• Average patient ratio of 1:5
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-07:00)
• 10-week contract for winter coverage
• Every other weekend required
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used

• Active RN license (CT or Compact) required prior to start, or candidate must have applied for CT license prior to submission
• BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required (1.5 years considered if from a Level I trauma center or large hospital)
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management experience required
• Experience with IV therapy, central line and PICC line management, wound care, and isolation precautions
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• 1 professional reference required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Pending license accepted if active prior to start date

• Provide direct patient care for orthopedic and telemetry patients, including monitoring, medication administration, and wound care
• Participate in emergency response or natural disaster activities as needed
• Royal blue scrub color required
• Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
• COVID vaccine and booster required, with religious or medical exemptions only
• No holiday RTO permitted for this assignment
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed for this assignment
• Local radius restrictions waived for this 10-week assignment only
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Returning staff must have been gone at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
