Job Description

As a Heavy Equipment Mechanic, you will perform scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, forklifts, and pay haulers. This role involves diagnosing and repairing electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems to ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely. You will adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining a compliant and safe work environment. Additionally, you will complete assigned repairs as designated by the supervisor, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Perform scheduled maintenance on heavy equipment, including excavators, loaders, dozers, cranes, forklifts, and pay haulers.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Complete assigned repairs as designated by the supervisor.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of projects.
  • Train junior mechanics and apprentices on proper maintenance and repair techniques.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in hydraulic repair (required).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in diesel repair (preferred).
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus).
  • Reliable, hardworking, and professional work ethic.
  • Own tools and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50+ pounds, climb heavy equipment safely, bend, kneel, and work with arms raised for prolonged periods.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Physical Demands / Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • The work environment involves hazards, risks, or discomforts typical of working with or around machinery with exposed moving parts, errant chemicals, heavy equipment, and extreme heights.
  • Exposure to disagreeable weather conditions and extreme levels of temperature, ventilation, lighting, and noise levels in the work environment.
