PUT YOUR CHEMICAL KNOWLEDGE TO WORK ON THE SHOP FLOOR

We are a metal-finishing processor seeking a Chemical Maintenance employee to help keep our production tanks properly maintained and ready for operation.

This is a physical, hands-on position performed primarily in the shop. Expect to get dirty, operate a forklift, move chemical drums, and add chemicals to production tanks. The lab technician performs the testing; you use those results and established instructions to make the required chemical additions.

This position is a good fit for someone with hazardous waste or industrial chemical-handling experience, or someone with a strong practical understanding of chemistry who enjoys physical work. Applicants with a basic chemistry degree, including recent graduates, are welcome. An advanced degree is not required.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Make chemical additions to production tanks based on lab testing results and established procedures.
  • Verify the correct chemical, tank, and quantity before making an addition.
  • Operate a forklift and use appropriate equipment to move chemical drums and supplies.
  • Follow chemical-handling, storage, labeling, and waste-handling procedures.
  • Read and follow work instructions and Safety Data Sheets.
  • Complete required records accurately.
  • Keep chemical storage and work areas clean and organized.
  • Communicate with the lab technician and production team about tank maintenance needs.
  • Stop and ask for guidance when a chemical, instruction, or condition is unclear.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
  • Previous hazardous waste, industrial chemical-handling, or related experience; or chemistry education that provides a strong foundation for safe chemical handling.
  • Understanding of chemical compatibility and the risks of mixing incompatible chemicals.
  • Ability to follow procedures carefully without guessing, taking shortcuts, or making unauthorized substitutions.
  • Comfort working around industrial chemicals while following required safety practices.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English to follow chemical labels, safety instructions, and work procedures.
  • Basic math skills to understand quantities, measurements, and chemical-addition instructions.
  • Willingness to operate a forklift and complete required training.
  • Dependable attendance and the ability to report ready to work for the full scheduled shift.
  • A steady work ethic, attention to detail, and willingness to perform physical shop work.
PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS
  • Stand and walk for much of a 10-hour shift.
  • Bend, reach, push, pull, and handle materials throughout the workday.
  • Move and position chemical drums using appropriate handling equipment.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Work in a production environment where tasks can be dirty and physically demanding.
BENEFITS
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • NICE Healthcare at $0 employee cost when enrolled in the Company’s medical plan, including covered visits, medications, labs, and other services
  • 401(k) with Company match
  • Company-paid life insurance…
