Physician Practice Specialist Surgery Clinic

Position Summary

Physician Practice Specialist in the Surgery Clinic at Iberia Medical Center (IMC) in New Iberia, LA. The role supports clinic operations under the supervision of the practice supervisor, ensuring smooth patient flow, accurate billing, and excellent service.

• Answer calls and take detailed messages, greet and assist patients, and prepare charts for clinic.
• Input demographics, verify insurance, and collect co‑pays/coinsurance.
• Enter billing codes, close out charges, and reconcile payments at the end of clinic.
• Schedule patients with referring offices, perform precertification, and coordinate hospital procedures.
• Assist in training new employees and support additional clinic tasks as directed.

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year of billing and coding experience, preferably in a medical practice.
• 3–5 years of experience with Medicaid filing and collection, including knowledge of Medicaid rules and regulations for office visits.
