Overview

Emergency Department Registered Nurse (RN) – Full‑time – Iberia Medical Center (IMC), New Iberia, LA.

IMC is a 60‑year community hospital committed to excellent patient care, staff development, and patient safety. As a full‑time RN in the Emergency Department, you will provide compassionate, evidence‑based nursing care to patients of all ages, collaborate with interdisciplinary team members, and contribute to a culture of continuous quality improvement.

Under the general supervision of the Unit Director and the authority of the Chief Nursing Officer, the Emergency Department RN will apply the nursing process (assessment, triage, and hands‑on interventions) to care for the ED patient population. Core duties include:

• Perform rapid nursing assessment, triage, and hands‑on interventions with emergent patients.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, ancillary staff, and patients and their families.
• Document nursing interventions in the electronic medical record accurately and timely.
• Provide direct nursing care to newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
• Adhere to IMC policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Participate in shift huddles, interdisciplinary rounds, and quality improvement initiatives.

• Education: Graduate of a state‑approved RN school.

  Experience:
  
  Previous emergency department experience preferred but not required.
• Job Knowledge: Basic knowledge of the nursing process and principles; basic knowledge of biology and chemistry; basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology; thorough knowledge of nursing procedures; ability to communicate effectively with other team members.
