Retail Parts Pro – a professional level sales position supporting the advanced functions of our DIY business.
Position OverviewFull‑time Retail Parts Pro with expert knowledge of store systems, advanced automotive systems, and parts expertise. The role enables advanced identification, troubleshooting, and project assistance for DIY customers and includes sourcing from special orders, second sources, and more.
Primary Responsibilities- Provide GAS2 selling experience for DIY customer visits and phone calls.
- Achieve personal / store sales goals and service objectives.
- Manage DIY services: battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Ensure high standards of customer service and store appearance.
- Key holder duties: task assignment, safety, open/close responsibilities.
- Assist in inventory processes: truck put‑away, shoot outs, cycle counts, back‑stock.
- Maintain store cleanliness: floors, bathrooms, facing, dusting, parking lot.
- Provide DIY services: battery installation, testing, wiper installs, etc.
- Friendly communication.
- Ability to locate and stock parts.
- Safety knowledge and skills.
- Operating inventory systems and store equipment.
- Parts and automotive system knowledge.
- Operating POS and parts lookup systems.
- Expert at testing and diagnostic equipment for DIY services.
- ASE P2 certified or ASE‑ready equivalent.
- Advanced solution, project, and product quality recommendation ability.
- Advanced parts lookup and sourcing.
- Advanced selling skills for DIY.
Job Skills
- Working knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostic ability covering internal engine, suspension, brakes, electronics, exhaust, etc.
- Speak and write English (Spanish a plus); effective communication with customers, peers, and management.
- Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, parts catalogs, procedure manuals; write simple correspondence.
- Execute instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Pass Parts Knowledge Assessment.
- Use basic math accurately: add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure.
- Use Microsoft Office effectively (Word, Excel required).
- Strong organizational skills.
- Work assorted days, evenings, and weekends as needed.
3‑5 years of automotive parts experience and proven sales ability in fulfilling customer transactions.
Education & Certifications- Valid driver’s license.
- ASE Certification preferred but not required.
Physical demands typical for automotive parts sales associate, requiring standing, walking, lifting, and repetitive tasks.
