Cost Accounting Manager

Our client is a medium sized manufacturer located in Northern, NJ and they are looking for a Cost Accountant to become a member of their team. The Cost Accountant will report to the Controller and will be a key member of the Accounting/Finance team. Company offers outstanding work/life balance and competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

• Perform inventory valuation and cost of goods sold calculations
• Has strong experience with Close activities, including General Ledger, Profit / Loss, Balance Sheet
• Maintain best practices and internal controls over cost of goods sold calculations and inventory accounting
• Plan, study and collect data to determine costs of business activity such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor
• Analyze changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods, or services provided to determine effects on costs
• Analyze actual manufacturing costs and prepare periodic report comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Prepare a report on margins by product and division
• Record cost information for use in controlling expenditures
• Analyze audits of costs and prepares reports
• Compile cost information to be used in operating budget preparation
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
• CPA or CMA is a plus
• Must have 5+ years of progressive responsibility over inventory and/or cost accounting
