Estimate heavy-civil construction projects across earthwork, utilities, drainage, paving, and concrete. You'll work through quantity takeoffs, vendor quotes, productivity analysis, and bid assembly to put together accurate, competitive bids.
Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid and DOT specs is the differentiator.
Responsibilities- Perform or coordinate quantity takeoffs from drawings and specifications.
- Build unit-cost, man-hour, and crew-production models from historical project data.
- Solicit and negotiate vendor and subcontractor quotes in coordination with Purchasing.
- Attend pre-bid meetings and walk sites to validate scope and ground conditions.
- Assemble direct cost estimates and analyze alternate construction methods.
- Recommend best-value approaches based on cost, schedule, and material availability.
- Support the project team after award by estimating change orders and extra work.
- Maintain estimating templates and historical job-cost references.
- BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1+ years estimating, project engineering, or operations in heavy-civil or highway construction.
- Experience with HCSS Heavy Bid is a strong plus.
- Familiarity with Delaware DOT and Maryland DOT specifications is a plus.
- Comfortable in a deadline-driven bid environment.
