Location: Township of Cranbury

Triple Star Construction Inc. is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator with a strong understanding of construction costs, trade scopes, subcontractor pricing, and competitive bidding.

The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with sound business judgment, analytical thinking, and the ability to independently manage the estimating process from initial plan review through bid submission. We are looking for a professional who can anticipate challenges, identify cost-saving opportunities, and develop accurate, financially sound estimates that support successful project execution and profitability.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimating and Bid Preparation: Develop comprehensive, accurate, and competitive estimates for commercial construction projects, including new construction, renovations, additions, and tenant improvements. Evaluate labor, materials, equipment, subcontracted work, general conditions, and project-specific costs.
  • Construction Document Review: Analyze architectural, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and other construction drawings, specifications, addenda, and bid instructions. Identify discrepancies, scope gaps, omissions, and potential cost impacts.
  • Subcontractor and Supplier Coordination: Identify required trades, solicit and evaluate proposals, compare pricing, verify scope coverage, review exclusions, resolve discrepancies, and follow up on outstanding quotes to ensure complete and reliable pricing.
  • Site-Walk Coordination: Arrange, schedule, and coordinate subcontractor site walkthroughs as required for each bid. Communicate with subcontractors regarding scheduling and attendance, attend and facilitate walkthroughs as needed, and assess existing conditions, project logistics, and potential cost impacts. Ensure sign-in sheets, contact information, and relevant scope details are documented and provided to the Bid Coordinator for tracking and follow-up.
  • Risk Assessment and Value Engineering: Evaluate constructability concerns, identify potential cost exposure, and recommend practical alternatives that improve project value while maintaining quality and protecting profitability.
  • Bid Coordination and Submission: Work with Bid Coordinators, Estimators, subcontractors, suppliers, Project Management team, and other internal teams to resolve scope questions, obtain outstanding information, and meet submission deadlines. Prepare organized, bid-ready proposals with supporting documentation, qualifications, exclusions, alternates, and pricing assumptions.
  • Documentation and Project Handoff: Maintain accurate records of estimates, subcontractor proposals, pricing assumptions, drawing revisions, and addenda. Participate in post-bid reviews and communicate relevant estimating information to the project management and operations teams.
  • Professional Accountability: Take ownership of assigned bids, follow established company procedures, meet deadlines, and communicate proactively with management and team members regarding outstanding items or potential issues.
