Position OverviewJoin Back to Nature Home and Garden as a Permit Coordinator, where you’ll play a key role in ensuring all residential landscape construction projects comply with local, county, and state regulations. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and tracking permit applications while serving as a liaison between clients, internal teams, and government agencies. The ideal candidate is detail‑oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment—a problem‑solver who “finds a way” to get permits approved quickly and correctly.
Success in this role depends on strong team collaboration; you’ll work closely with departments such as Design, Construction, and Maintenance to ensure permits are managed seamlessly from start to finish.
- Prepare, submit, and track permit applications for residential landscape construction projects.
- Review plans and documentation to ensure compliance with local codes, including zoning, grading, drainage, fire, accessibility, and energy standards.
- Research and interpret local ordinances, zoning codes, and building regulations to assess project feasibility.
- Monitor and expedite approvals to ensure project schedules are maintained.
- Keep accurate and organized records of all submissions, revisions, approvals, and correspondence.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors, project managers, and township officials, ensuring clear communication, resolving permit‑related issues, and maintaining compliance with local regulations.
- Attend meetings and follow up with reviewing departments to ensure smooth processing of applications.
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of jurisdictional requirements and permitting process changes across multiple regions.
- Research and document filing requirements for various agencies in multiple states as needed.
- Coordinate with internal teams (designers, project managers, engineers, and architects) to gather and verify required documentation for submittals.
- Communicate directly with clients by phone, email, and in‑person as needed to provide updates and address inquiries.
- Prepare and deliver proposal or submittal packages.
- Track project‑related time and expenses to support accurate billing and reimbursement.
- Maintain digital and physical filing systems for all project documentation.
- Perform additional administrative tasks and support functions as needed.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in permitting, preferably within construction, landscape architecture, engineering, or related field.
- Strong understanding of local zoning codes, setback requirements, grading and drainage regulations, tree ordinances, and related construction permitting standards.
- Prior land use experience a plus.
- Understand township rules and regulations, including review processes and agency communication protocols.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities; able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented and proactive in identifying and resolving compliance or documentation issues.
