Substitutes will be responsible for the appropriate care of students in the absence of the full time teacher/nurse. Substitutes at the Rockaway Township Public Schools should be an integral part of the school family.

Substitutes will be responsible for the appropriate care of students in the absence of the full time teacher/nurse. Substitutes at the Rockaway Township Public Schools should be an integral part of the school family.
- Substitute Teacher/Staff Assistant
- Must hold a NJ Teaching License or a NJ Substitute Teacher License.
- NJ Substitute Teacher License requires a minimum of 60 college credits.
- Salary: $175.00 per diem
- Floater Sub Salary: $185.00 per diem
- Substitute Nurse
- Must hold a NJ Substitute Teacher License and NJ Registered Nurse License or a NJ School Nurse License.
- Must be AED and CPR Certified.
- Salary: $225.00 per diem
- Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while regular teacher is absent
- Handle students' medical needs, whether routine or emergent
- Review and implement teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives
- Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment
- Report any incidents or potential incidents to school administration
- Be available to work on a consistent basis
- Perform other duties as directed by school administration
Starting Date: Ongoing;
Applicants will be called within a month for interview.

- Attend District Substitute Training.
- Complete online training tutorials as assigned.
Effective September 1, 2011, all employees of school districts must reside in the State of New Jersey, unless exempted under law. If you already work for the school district as of September 1, 2011, and you do not live in New Jersey, you are not required to move to New Jersey. However, if you begin your office, position or employment on September 1, 2011 or later, you must reside in New Jersey.
If you do not reside in New Jersey, you have one year after the date you take your office, position or employment to relocate your residence to New Jersey. If you do not do so, you are subject to removal from your office, position or employment.
