Instructional Paraprofessional Qualifications60 college credits or a passing score on the Para Pro Exam required.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Under supervision of a certified teacher, prepare for classroom activities and instruction
- Assist students in completing classroom assignments and projects
- Assure student understanding of classroom rules and procedures and assist students by answering questions, providing proper examples, emotional support, friendly attitude and general guidance
- Assist teachers with the implementation of lesson plans
- Work with individual or small groups of students, reinforcing instruction as directed by the teacher
- Assist students with mobility and access to materials
- Closely supervise students throughout the school building and on the playground
- Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly and enriched learning environment
- Monitor student activities and student behavior
- Assist in implementation and monitoring of behavior plans, when applicable
- Maintain a safe and positive learning environment
- Participate in daily activities, training sessions
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Participate in inservice training, conferences or formal classes related to assignment
- Show initiative when working with children
- Maintain cooperative, effective relationships
- Maintain confidentiality of student records
- Assist in additional duties as assigned by administration
Sitting, standing, reaching, squatting, must be able to see and hear the entire classroom.
Salary$21.49 - $24.46 hourly rate
