Staff Engineering Specialist – FPGA/ASIC Design & Verification OverviewAs a key member of a technical team, you will specify, design, verify, and integrate FPGA and/or ASIC solutions to support inertial measurement (IMU) and navigation (INS) products used in aircraft, UAVs, missiles, land vehicles, and sea platforms. You will work on both IRAD and customer‑funded contracts for commercial and military markets.
Essential Functions- Proficient in developing programmable digital systems using HDL and associated simulation and implementation tools in the FPGA/ASIC development process.
- Execute all phases of development: conception, requirements, design, implementation, hardware integration, verification, and lifecycle support.
- Familiar with state‑of‑the‑art MPSoC technologies and research best‑fit solutions per application.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical teams.
- Work independently with minimal oversight to meet project and product quality requirements in a certified environment.
- Conceptualize, design, develop, and verify HDL solutions that support system requirements.
- Develop processing architecture implemented in VHDL.
- Build test benches to verify processing approaches; experience with Model Sim is a plus.
- Synthesize designs that meet or exceed strict timing and reliability constraints across temperatures.
- Leverage FPGA architecture to maximize device resources.
- Utilize vendor‑supplied soft and hard IP where applicable.
- Document lifecycle per DO-254: requirements generation and formal validation.
- Spec, develop, and perform verification testing on end‑item hardware.
- Work within version control environments.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Minimum B.S. in Electrical or Computer Engineering; M.S. preferred.
- 8–10 years of HDL design and verification experience.
- Experience with DOORS is a plus.
- Familiarity with Xilinx, Microchip (Micro Semi/Actel), Synopsys, Mentor Graphics tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
- Bonus:
System Verilog for verification (UVM) and scripting skills. - Bonus: C‑language based software familiarity.
- Minimum B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- At least 7 years as a senior engineer in FPGA/ASIC design & verification.
- Daily on‑site availability.
- U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
- Available to travel within the U.S.
Salary Range: $140,000 – $165,000 annually (New Jersey). Final offer may vary based on experience and internal consistency.
