Engineering Manager

Linde Gas & Equipment Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to join our team in Alpha, NJ. The role focuses on high purity gas manufacture, purification, and packaging.

• Salary Range: $88,875 to $130,350 (commensurate with experience)

• Lead technical representative in HAZOPs and design reviews.
• Participate on project and technical teams, providing guidance to plant operations, project teams and other process engineers.
• Design and develop project plans for new systems, upgrades, efficiency improvements and maintenance projects; execute plans while maintaining timelines and cost controls.
• Develop system designs for ultra‑high purity gas purification, handling and disposal.
• Establish technical system requirements by reviewing product requirements, customer specifications and performance standards.
• Maintain plant document control standards.
• Develop software/control narratives and work with system integrators.
• Ensure compliance with Linde policy and government regulations.
• Participate in final field safety inspections.

• Direct supervision and management of plant engineering staff and contract engineers.
• Improve production plant performance through process improvements, downtime reduction, equipment reliability, maintenance, first‑pass yield and production rate increases.
• Manage project budgets up to $1 MM US and cumulative budgets of $1–3 MM.
• Ensure audit compliance with OSHA PSM, EPA RMP and other applicable codes.
• Ensure compliance with building, electrical, fire prevention codes, CGA, ISO, etc.
• Transfer projects from engineering phase to operations, completing necessary documentation (installations, SOPs, risk assessments, HAZOPs, commissioning procedures, progress reports, lessons learned).
• Supervise contractors and vendors per Linde Golden Rule and safety requirements.
• Focus on cost savings, reduced maintenance and enhanced reliability.
• Support Lean projects.

• Recruit, hire and develop personnel to form a high‑performance team.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Authorize plant and maintenance purchases up to $10 000.
• Identify opportunities for standardization and sharing best practices.
• Support corporate and division goals for GAP/HPO and productivity gains.
• Develop project I/O in line with accounting procedures and track budgets.
• Design gas systems (PFDs, P&IDs, BOMs, fabrication drawings).
• Implement necessary changes to achieve desired results in compliance with quality and safety guidelines.
• Provide engineering and operational support to production, manufacturing, analytical and cylinder preparation departments.

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering – Chemical preferred.
• 5+ years in high‑purity gas manufacture and processing.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Knowledge of NFPA codes and CGA guidelines.
• Visible support for a culture of collaborative safety and health.
• Commitment to operational discipline and compliance with standard work procedures.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and AutoCAD.
