Duties, Responsibilities & Other

KCI Technologies is hiring a Marine Structural Engineer‑in‑Training to join our team in New York, NY. This opportunity is intended for Spring 2026 graduates, with the position starting in Summer 2026.

  • Performs work that involves conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures or equipment.
  • Assignments include but are not limited to: design and development, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, report preparation, and other activities of limited scope requiring knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in a specific, narrow area of assignments.
  • Works collaboratively with internal and external partners on multidisciplinary design/engineering projects.
  • Coordinates the work of Engineers and others who may assist on specific assignments, as required.
  • Reviews input from Project or Technical Managers and makes the necessary adjustments and corrections to work product.
  • Performs work in a timely and effective manner within assigned schedules and budgets.
  • Experience on all phases of design as well as provided construction administration/bid phase services is preferred.
  • Field experience and ability to work with clients, contractors, and other disciplines is preferred not required.
  • EIT is preferred. Ability to get in 1 year is required.
  • Multi‑tasker with ability to perform structural design and development of construction drawings for concrete, wood, and steel structures.
Qualifications

Education and/or

Skills Required:

  • 0-2 Years of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET‑Accredited Program
  • General knowledge of required design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Good communication and technical writing skills.
  • Detail‑oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to think critically.

Education and/or Work Experience Preferred:

  • Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations

Required:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Ability to maintain required certifications.

Certificates, licenses, and/or Registrations Preferred:

  • Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) certification

Pre‑employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment.
