The Senior Hydrogeologist role at HDR is an exciting opportunity to shape solid waste infrastructure and environmental stewardship. You will collaborate closely with clients and communities to design sustainable, cost‑effective systems that contribute to cleaner environments and healthier communities.
Responsibilities- Lead complex hydrogeologic investigations in the Northeast and Mid‑Atlantic region, including fractured rock and coastal plain settings.
- Oversee data collection, processing, analysis, and interpretation: build dynamic conceptual site models, develop high‑resolution characterization strategies, and apply modern remediation hydrogeology concepts.
- Develop advanced groundwater monitoring, well design, cross‑section development, geospatial and geostatistical analysis, and hydrograph generation.
- Assess groundwater contaminant plume dynamics and recommend management or remediation strategies.
- Act as a technical expert, provide peer review, and lead technical teams.
- Manage projects and mentor junior staff, including proposal preparation, budgeting, tracking, and scheduling.
- Interact with clients and present findings.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Advanced degree in Geology, Geosciences, Hydrogeology, Engineering, or closely related field with experience in hydrogeologic assessments and conceptual site modeling at mine sites.
- Experience implementing passive/active water treatment systems, flow control structures, directional drilling into mine workings, and fault zone structures.
- Training: 40‑hour HAZWOPER, 30‑hour OSHA Construction, and MSHA 40‑hour Underground Miner.
- Local candidates preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Hydrology, Civil Engineering, Water Resources, or closely related field.
- 10+ years of analysis, modeling, design, and management experience.
- Project management skills a plus.
