THE WORK

Mechanical Draftsman

  • Receive and interpret design inputs (sketches, verbal/written descriptions, conceptual CAD) from senior personnel.
  • Develop detailed calculations, layouts, and part drawings based on general design outlines.
  • Design less‑complex mechanical units (e.g., chassis, component layouts) while considering economical manufacturing methods.
  • Produce and release accurate engineering drawings.
  • Generate part lists and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Maintain design documentation using CAD tools and Product Data Management (PDM) systems.
  • Ensure all work complies with applicable standards, company practices, and project specifications.
  • Conduct self‑checks and peer reviews to verify the accuracy of drafts and calculations.
  • Assist in updating and revising drawings based on Engineering Change Notices (ECNs) and feedback.
  • Support senior engineers with miscellaneous drafting tasks as required.

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
