Company Description

RCM Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: RCMT) is a premier provider of business, technology solutions designed to enhance and maximize the operational performance of its clientele. We provide comprehensive engineering, IT, and business solutions to clients in key industries, including the life sciences sector. Our expertise spans the drug and device development cycle, offering clients innovative solutions to address complex process, technology, and transformation challenges.

Position Overview

RCM Technologies is growing its Life Sciences engineering practice and is looking for a Senior MEP Engineer to lead facility and utility projects for pharmaceutical, biotech, and industrial clients. You’ll own the engineering work from basis of design through commissioning and closeout, serve as the technical lead with clients, and mentor junior engineers. This is a US-remote role with periodic travel to client sites in Puerto Rico and the continental US.

Industry background is flexible. Strong MEP engineers from consulting, industrial, healthcare, higher education, commercial, mission critical, or manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
  • Lead MEP and facility infrastructure projects through design, procurement support, construction administration, commissioning, and closeout
  • Develop and review basis of design documents, calculations, specifications, drawings, equipment selections, procurement packages, cost estimates, technical reports, budgets, and schedules
  • Provide technical leadership across HVAC, electrical distribution, emergency power, plumbing, fire protection, clean and process utilities, process gases, chilled water, steam, BAS/controls, and central utility plants
  • Run site assessments, feasibility studies, and constructability and risk reviews
  • Support construction: respond to RFIs, review submittals, verify field conditions, and coordinate shutdowns while maintaining safety, quality, and cGMP expectations
  • Ensure compliance with IBC, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and, for Life Sciences work, cGMP, FDA, and ISO requirements
  • Partner with clients, contractors, vendors, operations, quality, validation, and multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver projects on budget, on schedule, and safely
  • Identify improvements in reliability, energy efficiency, and lifecycle value
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers, and support proposals, scoping, and client relationships
Qualifications
  • 10+ years of engineering experience, including 7+ years in MEP design, building systems, or facility and utility infrastructure
  • Hands-on experience leading engineering deliverables, not only managing contractors
  • Ability to define scope, prepare budgets and schedules, plan staffing, review deliverables, and report project status to management and clients
  • Working knowledge of IBC, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and commissioning practices
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and project controls tools
  • Strong written and verbal communication with clients and technical teams
  • Willingness to travel to Puerto Rico and continental US sites as projects require
  • Valid driver’s license
Preferred Qualifications
  • PE license (any US state or territory), or FE passed and progressing toward PE
  • Ability to obtain reciprocal PE licensure in Puerto Rico and other US jurisdictions
  • Life Sciences or GMP facility experience (labs, clean rooms, manufacturing suites, utility plants)
  • Validation lifecycle experience
  • Experience with facility expansions, renovations, and brownfield infrastructure upgrades
  • Scheduling and project controls tools (MS Project, Primavera P6, Smartsheet, Procore)
  • Master’s degree, PMP, LEED, CEM, or commissioning certification
  • Familiarity with Puerto Rico…
