Laboratory Analyst; Asbestos

EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Cinnaminson, NJ
. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees.

• Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and/or TEM (Transmission Electron Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control procedures.
• Determination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos material.
• Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
• Generate analytical reports and enter data into the LIMS system.
• Perform quality control practices per company Quality Assurance/Quality Control manual.
• Other responsibilities as deemed necessary by the manager.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Geology or related science required.
• Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
• Light microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope preferred.
• Laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plus.
• Experience performing asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM analysis.
• Ability to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
• Ability to work independently, and as a part of a team, self-motivated, adaptability, and a positive attitude.
• Effective time management, organizational skills, and ability to multi-task and prioritize with minimal assistance.

• Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Position is full-time, Monday to Friday 5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. Training to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Position is full-time, Tuesday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Training to start will be Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
