- Perform clerical duties related to admission, discharge, and documentation of patient information while prioritizing and organizing work assignments based on changing needs and situations in the department.
- Greet patients and families and assist them in filling out necessary forms and paperwork.
- Complete admission and discharge paperwork and file processing.
- Develop rapport and cooperative relationships with nursing and clinical staff and respond to questions or requests from healthcare providers.
- Organize and file medical information appropriately.
- Answer phones and call bell, communicating clearly when receiving information from other units, physicians, or guests.
- Safeguard sensitive medical information and practice strict procedures in handling confidentiality of data pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
- Measure and interpret patient’s heart rhythm and document on patient record per departmental standards, using clear and complete communication with unit personnel when delivering information about changes in patient rhythm.
- Adhere to confidentiality of information acquired pertaining to patients, clinicians, employees, and visitors.
- Complete other varied tasks as necessary to ensure the efficient operation of the department.
- High School Diploma or General Equivalent Diploma required.
- Successful completion of the Hackensack Meridian Health Monitor Tech Exam is required.
- Experience as a Nursing Unit Secretary in a hospital setting is strongly desired.
- Current and active NUS Monitor Tech work experience strongly desired.
- BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology of the heart is strongly preferred.
- Computer, order entry, basic Microsoft Office skills, and excellent communication skills required.
- Must enjoy working with patients and families.
- Must be flexible and able to rapidly adjust to changes in census; ability to accept responsibility for accuracy and response times to emergent and non‑emergent requests.
Starting at $20.79 per hour. The posted rate is a reasonable good‑faith estimate of the minimum base pay for this role and may be supplemented by performance‑based incentives, shift differentials, or other compensation as described in the job offer.
