Title

INTERIM CHILD STUDY TEAM SUPERVISOR

Compensation

Salary Range: $500 per day

Benefits

Eligible for single coverage medical benefits after 90 days

Availability

February - April (end date is tentative; may be extended)

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree plus 32 credits is preferred but a Master’s degree is required
  • The applicant must hold or be eligible to qualify for the Supervisor’s certificate issued by the New Jersey State Department of Education
  • A standard New Jersey Certificate for Teacher of Special Education
  • Preference given to candidates with either or both Principal certification and having experience as a member of the Child Study Team other than that as a teacher
Special Knowledge / Skills
  • Ability to gather, organize and maintain district-wide Child Study Team, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT records
  • Ability to recommend budgetary allocations
  • Ability to develop budgets and manage district-wide Child Study Team, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT resources, where applicable
  • Remain abreast of current developments, new trends and research, and contemporary interpretation of content and methodology related to position
  • Establish and maintain professional contact in local, state or national levels
  • Behave in accordance with law and exhibit high standards of professional ethical behavior
  • Follow district and school policies, regulations and procedures
  • Perform all duties assigned by the Superintendent or her/his designee consistent with law, policies and regulations
  • Must be mature and possess integrity
  • Must possess vigorous leadership qualities
  • Must possess the ability to get along well with one’s colleagues and the public
  • Must pass criminal background check and fingerprints, pre-employment drug screening and TB test
Experience
  • A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in public schools or five years of experience in a field related to this position is required
  • Successful administrative experience or supervisory experience is preferred
Reports To

Superintendent

Purpose

To supervise and coordinate the development, implementation, operation and evaluation of the Child Study Teams, Speech Language Specialists, and Occupational and Physical Therapists in accordance with law, policies and regulations.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Assess the implementation of Child Study Team services, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT plans and recommend action when necessary
  • Identify needs and, where necessary, recommend changes in Child Study Team Services, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT plans
  • Plan and conduct the evaluation of Child Study Team Services, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT plans
  • Utilize test score results for identifying improvements for Child Study Team Services and Speech Language Specialist plans
  • Make recommendations concerning the implication(s) of applicable legislation
  • Establish and maintain contacts with agencies and organizations that could serve program goals and utilize them where appropriate
  • Be aware of sources and prepare applications for outside funding
  • Register, assign or schedule students where appropriate
  • Assist in the interviewing and recommending of candidates as requested
  • Observe, evaluate and report on staff performance as it relates to Child Study Team Services, Special Education Program, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT plan requirements
  • Provide professional development training of personnel
  • Consult with appropriate administrators in the scheduling of staff with multiple building assignments, and, when requested, in the scheduling of any personnel connected with the Child Study Team, Special Education Program, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT
  • Schedule and hold meetings with Child Study Team members, Special Education Program staff members, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT
  • Recommend transfer, termination, discipline or promotion of staff
  • Assist in the interpretation of district-wide Child Study Team, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT information
  • Submit reports as necessary
  • Evaluate and recommend Child Study Team, Speech Language Specialist and OT/PT materials, supplies and equipment
