Title: Occupational Therapist (OT)

Reports To: Principal/CST Supervisor

Goal: To work as a member of the school staff and follow school procedures and policies established by the administration of the school. To conduct occupational therapy for students in an educational setting.

Qualifications: New Jersey School Occupational Therapist Certification

A. Conduct school-based occupational therapy evaluations of students with a qualifying IEP or 504, referred for OT services using standardized testing and clinical observations

B. Provide occupational therapy services to students enrolled in the educational programs as identified through IEP/504 plans

C. Ensure compliance with national, state and local health laws and regulations governing schools

D. Conduct occupational therapy screenings and suggest appropriate interventions

E. Identify students for whom occupational therapy is required

F. Prepare relevant reports including but not limited to: evaluations, screenings, intervention plans, and progress reports G. Provide training to classroom teacher(s) and paraprofessional(s) of developmentally appropriate instructional activities, exercises and programming to enhance students' abilities to achieve goals.

H. Establish and maintain contact with school principal, counselor, child study team members, teachers, paraprofessionals, student caregivers and students, as appropriate, in relation to the student's goals, therapeutic interventions, ongoing progress, and general well-being.

I. Travel from school to school as required by assigned caseload to provide services to qualifying students J. With approval, order necessary equipment for student success in the school environment K. Abide by the policies and procedures of Dennis Township Schools L. Administer occupational therapy assessments to determine level of functioning in relevant areas including self-care, daily living activities, sensory-motor, and fine/gross motor skill development M.

Complete assessment reports to identify student needs and proposed treatment strategies, write IEP goals and objectives, write progress reports and participate in IEP meetings N. Provide individual and group therapy sessions to correct specific areas of sensory-motor integrative dysfunction O. Perform such other related duties as prescribed by law and as may be directed by school administrator within the scope of his/her certification

Ten-month position. Salary and work hours as established according to the negotiated agreement between the teacher's association bargaining unit and the Board of Education.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with this job description and the provisions of Board of Education policy.
