Responsibilities include:
- Understanding the architecture of wireless voice/data networks.
- Troubleshooting and resolving service impairments in roaming, transport services, network hardware & software faults, translations, and voice/data network elements.
- Correlating customer complaints with network element performance to resolve service-impacting issues.
- Driving troubleshooting to resolution by engaging internal and external resources.
- Providing accurate and timely documentation of actions, and identifying efficiencies to reduce cycle time in resolving customer troubles.
- Working independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications include:
- Minimum Associate degree, with 1-2 years of experience in wireless voice/data networks.
- Knowledge of data network elements and protocols such as TCP/IP, MPLS, OSI, Frame Relay, ATM, X.25, RIP, OSPF, BGP, ISDN, SS7, and other LAN/WAN protocols.
- Experience with reporting, access, and troubleshooting tools including Remedy trouble ticketing, Xpercom, Agilent, and SANE.
- Familiarity with Lucent, Nortel, Compaq HLRs, and Motorola databases.
- Proficiency in analyzing and interpreting complex voice/data platform messages.
- Understanding of call and digit-by-digit routing translations and dialing plans.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for complex call processing routing issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to gather and analyze information effectively.
- Proficiency in PC skills and software such as Windows, Word, Excel; UNIX, Tipdunix, and Apxrcv+ are a plus.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in a high-pressure, changing environment.
- Flexible working hours including evenings, nights, weekends, and support for on-call duties.
