A Typical Day
- Provide leadership over three H&R Block tax offices, guiding customer-centric teams to accelerate the seasonal tax business.
- Serve as the front-line manager responsible for leadership and development of associates, delivering an outstanding client experience, and achieving office growth objectives for three tax offices. Prior tax preparation experience is not required.
- Start with a flexible part-time schedule in the fall to prepare for the busy tax season; from January to April, transition to full-time with evening and weekend hours as needed. This role is in-person and not remote.
Responsibilities
- Manage office staffing, operations, and logistics for multiple offices with support from Associate Team Leaders.
- Partner with the District General Manager (DGM) to create and implement office-level growth plans and client growth targets, including developing local partnerships and managing office community involvement.
- Assist DGM in recruiting and interviewing candidates for tax office associate positions.
- Conduct timely performance reviews and collaborate with the Associate Relations Center to address performance concerns.
- Build an engaging team environment across all offices by training and coaching associates and recognizing outstanding contributions.
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate essential information to tax office associates.
- Create associate work schedules across all offices and ensure accurate timekeeping and labor management for all offices.
- Travel between offices as required.
- Prepare tax returns as needed, upon successful completion of the Income Tax Course or Tax Knowledge Assessment.
Qualifications
- People management experience with a track record of growing and developing associates.
- Ability to execute growth plans and lead toward a growth culture.
- Strong decision-making and judgment skills; works well in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a customer-centric mindset.
- Computer proficiency in MS Office.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or high school diploma with equivalent experience.
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment or Income Tax Course (if preparing tax returns).
Schedule & Location
- In-person role; not remote.
- Flexible start in the fall with transition to full-time January–April; evening and weekend hours as needed.
Pay Range
$15.00 - $40.00/Hr. Local minimum wage laws apply; pay decisions depend on experience, education, skill, and location.
